Adesso Wireless Mini Trackball KeyboardControl your computer from 30ft away
Notebook computer users often place their notebooks on a stand in an effort to get a better viewing experience. Others don't like to be tethered to their notebook's keyboard and opt for alternative solutions. USB keyboards are often used to good success in this type of workspace, but still others often like the freedom that wireless provides, and this is where the Adesso Wireless Mini Trackball Keyboard comes into play.
This keyboard, which is about the same length as the notebook keyboard on a 13-inch MacBook Pro, has a surprisingly crisp set of keys, not the mushy type associated with many notebook computer keys. The built in trackball enables you to work on your computer withouut having to resort to a traditional mouse or trackpad. The trackpad is located on the upper right portion of the keyboard while the left and right buttons can be found on the upper left portion of the keyboard.
Although the Wireless Mini Trackball Keyboard is recommended for Windows computers, it easily works on a Macintosh as well. Setting up the keyboard on a 13-inch MacBook Pro was a snap. I simply plugged the USB receiver into the USB port on the side of the MacBook Pro, installed the AA batteries on the bottom of the keyboard and Mac OS X did the rest, prompting to press keys, and then easily identifying the keyboard.
The keyboard has a range of 30ft, so if you are presenting on a big screen, you can control your presentation without getting in the way of the screen. It sports a 2.4GHz frequency range and is 12 inches in size. The trackball gets a bit getting used to, as the buttons to control the trackball are located on the opposite side of the trackball, so you use two hands to control the trackball.
The beauty of the Adesso Wireless Mini Trackball Keyboard is that it works relateively well given its compact size, has that solid keystroke feel, and is lightweight and very portable. When not in use, the keyboards USB receiver is easily stored in the bottom of the keyboard. It is small enough to fit in your laptop bag and runs on two AA batteries, which can be easily obtained.
The Adesso Wireless Mini Trackball Keyboard is an ideal solution when you need to control a computer but can't or don't need to be close to a computer. Navigating a Web page on a big screen or controlling a PowerPoint presentation from up to 30ft away come to mind. It is priced at $79. For more information, visit www.adesso.com
